What We Do
High-quality products sold to the public through supermarkets, online shops, and coffee shops
Recipes developed and products made for clients, and the products labelled under their own brand
Once-off orders with special jars and designed labels for events such as weddings and Mother’s Day
Single-portion jams in sachets, each with enough jam for two slices of bread
Liebré Jacobs and her partners Elouise Josephs and Deidré Eigelaar established FruitLips in February 2014 and positioned the business by establishing people, markets, finance and infrastructure. They saw an opportunity in the market to connect people, fruit and business in the Piket-bo-Berg area. FruitLips is a fruit manufacturing company delivering jams, marmalades, chutneys and fruit in syrup to selected retail stores. The focus of FruitLips is to create fresh, hand-made jams while retaining the highest quality of standards. The aim of FruitLips is to infuse this bespoke product with the re-energizing and tranquil feeling the mountains give in every bite of the homemade jam.
Slowly and painstakingly, Liebré, Deidre and Elouise are growing FruitLips into a solid business. Their prime objective is to create jobs for an energetic and positive group of people. Not only is FruitLips creating sustainable jobs, but building accountable citizens.
FruitLips is an ecologically full-circle company that recycles water to use in the herb and vegetable gardens. The peels and pips of the fruit are used, and the fruit offcuts are turned into biological fertilizer by using red earthworms.
The artisan products of FruitLips are for the refined foodies and “lekkerbekke”. Initiative and new concepts are the drive, creating vibrant new fruit-related products.
The FruitLips Management and the team are excellent examples of people who are creating opportunities through discipline and hard work.
Old school is the new school
Our Family Farm
Achtervlei is a family-owned farm with the third generation of the Eigelaar family, farming with deciduous fruit. Achtervlei is situated amongst the breathtaking mountains of the Piket-Bo-Berg, 150 kilometres from Cape Town, with a spectacular view on Table Mountain at the southernmost tip of Africa. The farm, with fruit trees in the valleys and marshes, is offering jobs to more than twenty-six families, working together in building a future for generations to come. The third generation has started to learn from the embedded knowledge to carry on the legacy of the Eigelaars in building a sustainable future. FruitLips is situated on Achtervlei and relies on the fruit that is not exported. FruitLips forms an integral part in creating jobs, getting involved in secondary agriculture and furthering the aims of building and healing our divided land.
Our Initiatives And Innovations
SOG Water Recycling System
All water used within the factory is recycled and re-used with the herb and vegetable gardens. No water is wasted.
Creating sustainable jobs for the people from the Piketberg community.
Herb and Vegetable Gardens
The gardens are watered with the recycled water that grows vegetables for the staff to take home and the herbs are grown to use within our own products that are made with a twist.
Low Carbon Footprint
We source where possible, raw materials within a 150km radius to keep the carbon footprint as low as possible.
Red Earthworm Farms
Fruit waste is used to create earthworm extract that is used as a mineral enhancer for soil.
Support Community Organisations
We are actively part of the Piket-bo-berg Residents Association and Piketberg Tourism.
