Spicy Plum Ribs with Asian Slaw
INGREDIENTS
RIBS
- Pork / Beef Ribs ( Pork Ribs were used for this recipe)
- Fruitlips Spicy Plum Braai Sauce
SLAW
- Quarter Red Cabbage
- 2 Carrots
- 2 Spring Onions
- Fresh Coriander
- Sesame Seeds
SLAW DRESSING
- Soya Sauce
- Peanut Oil
- Oyster Sauce
- Rice Wine Vinegar
METHOD
- Prepare Slaw – Thinly slice cabbage, peel carrot to remove skin. Continue to peel carrot length ways to create fine ribbons for the slaw.
- Thinly slice spring onions. Combine shredded cabbage, carrot ribbons and spring onions and mix together.
- Pick coriander leaves off their stem and add to the cabbage mixture. Allow to stand while preparing the slaw dressing.
- Mix 1/4 cup of soya sauce with a two tablespoons of peanut oil, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and teaspoon of vinegar to form a sauce.
- Taste and add flavours as needed, season and add in sesame seeds.
- Baste rib rack generously and evenly on both sides. Season with salt and pepper
- Place rib rack into braai grid and onto the fire. Rotate the braai grid as need be.
- Ribs should be brown and sticky.
- Place ribs on chopping board and slice into individual portions.
- Dress slaw with dressing and garnish with coriander. Serve slaw as a side with ribs as a starter.
