Spicy Plum Ribs with Asian Slaw



  • Pork / Beef Ribs ( Pork Ribs were used for this recipe)
  • Fruitlips Spicy Plum Braai Sauce


  • Quarter Red Cabbage
  • 2 Carrots
  • 2 Spring Onions
  • Fresh Coriander
  • Sesame Seeds


  • Soya Sauce
  • Peanut Oil
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Rice Wine Vinegar


  1. Prepare Slaw – Thinly slice cabbage, peel carrot to remove skin. Continue to peel carrot length ways to create fine ribbons for the slaw.
  2. Thinly slice spring onions. Combine shredded cabbage, carrot ribbons and spring onions and mix together.
  3. Pick coriander leaves off their stem and add to the cabbage mixture. Allow to stand while preparing the slaw dressing.
  4. Mix 1/4 cup of soya sauce with a two tablespoons of peanut oil, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and teaspoon of vinegar to form a sauce.
  5. Taste and add flavours as needed, season and add in sesame seeds.
  6. Baste rib rack generously and evenly on both sides. Season with salt and pepper
  7. Place rib rack into braai grid and onto the fire. Rotate the braai grid as need be.
  8. Ribs should be brown and sticky.
  9. Place ribs on chopping board and slice into individual portions.
  10. Dress slaw with dressing and garnish with coriander. Serve slaw as a side with ribs as a starter.
